RailCom monitors the non-discriminatory performance of system tasks by a system manager commissioned by the Federal Office of Transport and settles disputes. There are currently seven system tasks:

• Customer information
• European Train Control System (ETCS)
• Train communication (GSM-R, FRMCS)
• Exchange for timetable notification and operational messages (TAF/TAP TSI)
• 16.7 Hz traction current
• Train control system for metre-gauge and narrow-gauge railways (ZBMS)
• Interaction vehicle/metre gauge track

ZBMS is managed by RhB, Vehicle/metre gauge track by RAILplus, the other five by SBB/CFF.
